Wichita: Social Media Budget Town Hall

City staff looking for public input Thursday afternoon

City of Wichita officials will host a Social Media Budget Town Hall from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 21 in Training Room I on the 9th floor of City Hall, 455 N. Main.

Mayor Jeff Longwell and City Council Members are expected to attend. Planned budget topics for Thursday's town hall include library branch optimization, allocation of school resource officers and the City's animal shelter operations.

During the town hall, residents will be asked questions regarding the budget on City of Wichita Facebook and on Twitter accounts, using the hashtag #ictbudget18. They can also participate in the town hall on the social network Nextdoor.

Residents who are unable to participate during the scheduled town hall, should visit the City's Facebook page to view budget questions and leave comments. Residents can also send tweets after the town hall has ended, but should remember to use the hashtag #ictbudget18. City staff will respond to additional comments and tweets the following day.

The budget town hall is part of the 2019-2020 Proposed Budget process. The town hall precedes planned budget workshops and other related public meetings. The Proposed Budget is scheduled to be presented on July 17.
