
Wichita standoff ends, suspect hospitalized with self-inflicted injuries
UPDATE: A police standoff came to an end Thursday evening after the suspect suffered a self-inflicted injury. It happened in the 400 block of W. Ave. C.
Authorities say life-saving measures were used on the man and he was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Wichita police officer Charley Davidson said in a news briefing that SWAT was called in to assist the department with the standoff.
SWAT used a negotiator to communicate with the suspect and during a breakdown of communication authorities were able to use technology to locate the suspect.
Authorities found the man inside the residence with serious self-inflicted injuries.

In a tweet, police said they are working a disturbance with a weapon call involving a barricaded suspect.
A SWAT was also called in and they set up in a staging area in the parking lot of the old Dillon's store.
