On Saturday afternoon, Wichitans attempted to break a world record.
In honor of Skin Cancer Awareness Month, people at the Dillards at Towne East Square, in addition to other Dillards across the country applied sunscreen simultaneously. Here in Wichita, that amounted to 70 people.
Organizers were a bit disappointed that not as many people showed up for the event as they would have liked. They believe that weather may have been a factor in their numbers.
The company needed more than 2,000 people participating nationally to break the record. Everyone in attendance applied the lotion for 2 minutes and 10 seconds.
