Two family-members were killed and another critically injured on Sunday afternoon in downtown Wichita at Douglas & Broadway.

They were in a car with a green light on Douglas that was hit by a south-bound driver on Broadway fleeing from police in a stolen BMW.

Police arrested a 24-year-old Wichita woman on two counts of first-degree murder, three counts of aggravated battery, driving with a suspended license, and hit-and-run.

The fatal crash Sunday killed 70-year-old Maria Wood, and her 12-year-old granddaughter Rosemary McEllroy.

A 38-year-old man was also in the stolen car; he remains hospitalized; the Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office is still looking into any possible charges he might face.
