WICHITA, Kan. (KNSS) - Saturday is the 16th annual Arkansas River Trash Roundup in downtown Wichita.

1,300 volunteers took part last year, a 63% increase; they picked up 3,000 pounds of trash in a three-hour period.

This year's event features competitions among high school volunteers, and college volunteers.

Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. Saturday at 1st & Waco; the River Trash Roundup goes from 9:a.m.-noon. Registered volunteers get a t-shirt, and can enjoy a post-cleanup cookout.
