Wichita's Bobby Stout has passed away

October 16, 2020 - 11:30 am

Wichita's Bobby Stout has passed away. Stout retired in 2010 with a half-century of law enforcement experience, 23 years with the Police Department and 30 as director of the Wichita Crime Commission.

The son of Bobby Stout, Bill Stout, posted this on Facebook:

With the heaviest of hearts I need to let everyone who knew him know that my father, Bobby Stout passed away peacefully in his sleep overnight. Your prayers are welcomed. I will let everyone know about memorial services once arrangements have been completed.

Wichita Metro Crime Commission posted this:

Today we lost our former Executive Director, Bobby Stout. Bobby was the Executive Director of the Crime Commission for 23 years and prior to that he served on WPD for 23 years retiring as Deputy Chief. Bobby was instrumental in bringing the Crime Stoppers of Wichita/Sedgwick County program to Wichita and ended up doing the bulk of the stand-ups on television for Crime Stoppers. Bobby also had a hit song written about him in the early 1970's: "Captain Bobby Stout (Done Found Me Out)." The Crime Commission and Crime Stoppers owe a lot to Bobby. He made Wichita a safer and better place to live. Thank you for your service and may you RIP.
