July 20, 2019 - 7:48 pm

Hundreds of people received services from community businesses and agencies today as the Convoy of Hope made its way to Wichita.

At this time of the year, kids and their parents are thinking about buying back to school supplies, getting vaccinations, having physicals and the costs associated with all of those items. The Convoy of Hope attempted to alleviate some of the worries that can arise when thinking of those things.

The Convoy of Hope has been going on every year since 2013 and has provided services to more than 47-thousand people.

Children were give backpacks full of school supplies and a new pair of shoes. Free haircuts were given as well, and family portraits were offered to attendees. People got free hot lunches at both McAdams Park and Bethel Life Center, and parents got bags of groceries. Health care services were also provided.

Outside of receiving different supplies attendees were also connected to other local non-profits for ongoing help.

The goal was to provide assistance in a variety of ways, inlcuding health care services and in that, they succeeded.
