Police on Wednesday afternoon were doing patrol work in the Hilltop neighborhood in the southeast part of Wichita near Oliver & Harry, because of increased drug and crime activity in the area.

Officer Charley Davidson says police made contact with a woman after she committed a pedestrian violation in the 1200 block of S. Terrace. He says she was evasive and not being honest with officers who questioned her; after some more truthful answers, the woman was taken into custody, and a search revealed she was carrying with her drugs and multiple items of stolen property.

The 27-year-old woman was booked into jail for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, the pedestrian violation, obstruction, and 14 counts of stolen property.

Among the stolen property in the woman's possession were checks, credit cards, and a passport; some of that stolen property may relate to an auto larceny case from as far back as the year 2001.

The stolen items may be linked to more than a dozen cases over the years, including many larcenies and auto thefts.
