Woman hospitalized after crash involving stolen car

An 87-year-old woman was injured after a stolen car crashed into her vehicle. According to the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office it happened around 7:20 p.m. Sunday evening. 

A deputy was following a stolen car on I-235 near Seneca. The car exited at MacArthur and stopped briefly a gas station before fleeing on Broadway. The Sheriff's Office said the deputy did not pursue the suspect car. 

A short time later, the suspect ran the red light at 47th South and Broadway and struck another car. The driver of the second vehicle, an 87-year-old woman, was transported to the hospital. The suspect, a 17-year-old female, attempted to flee and was taken into custody by another deputy.  

The teen was booked into the Juvenile Detention Facility for reckless aggravated battery, felony flee & elude, possession of stolen property, DUI and no driver's license.
