Police are investigating a murder case in the northwest part of Wichita, near 21st Street North & 119th West.

Police Lt. Todd Ojile says late Monday night, some property belonging to a woman was found in Andover. Wichita police went to the woman's house in the 2200 block of N. Parkridge, but were not able to contact her.

Before 2:00 a.m. Tuesday, police in Olathe, Kansas, contacted Wichita officers, concerning a suspicious character and property and a car belonging to the woman. Wichita police then returned the woman's home, once again trying to contact her.

Still not able to make contact with the woman, investigators determined they needed to force their way into the home, where they found a 42-year-old woman dead, with wounds from blunt force trauma.

Lt. Ojile says investigators would be processing the crime scene at her house for most of the day Tuesday.

The woman's boyfriend for a few weeks, a 37-year-old man, was apprehended in Olathe, and Wichita investigators traveled to northeast Kansas to speak with him. This is Wichita's 27th murder case of the year.
